8th Oct Sat Alresford for birds. Meet at the village hall in Old Alresford. SU 586340   1.30 p.m. Leader: Steve Mansfield. NOTE THAT STEVE IS UNABLE TO LEAD THIS WALK.was planning to walk from Old Alresford past Old Alresford Cress Beds to Pinglestone Cress Beds then loop round to the main pond.
There is every chance of Marsh Harrier at Alresford pond. In any event there should be lots of gulls and duck. The water level should still be low with lots of mud so there could be waders too - I had 8 Ruff together there in September, while Penny had 11 + Little Stint.
The safest way of getting to the pond is from the bottom of the high street and walk along the left (west) side of the road.
There is a new short footpath from opposite Bighton Lane which joins with the path at the cress bed - but you have to walk 20 yds on the edge of the road at the corner.
